Based: Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire

Salary: £24,000 per annum

Contract term: Fixed until 31st March 2024 with possible extension

Working Hours: Full Time - 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Comprising home working/office-based working initially with home visiting and partner offices once safety conditions
are confirmed.

Summary of Job Remit

The Energy Adviser will provide in-depth, holistic and bespoke energy advice to those in or at risk of fuel poverty. This will be to clients, and to generalist advisers. The Energy Adviser will be asked to work to targets to successfully deliver the project.
The Energy Adviser will be expected to support or deliver group sessions throughout the year. These will be aimed at asylum seekers, minority ethnic groups, travellers, Park Home communities, digitally excluded and other vulnerable groups and/or frontline workers who support these groups. It is expected that there will be twice as many frontline workers as clients supported at group sessions. Full training will be provided.
The Energy Advisers will attend meetings every 2-3 months with the other Energy Advisers delivering the service. These meetings will involve training, sharing best practice, and providing updates.
Training will be provided, This will initially take place on line and successful completion of the training provided is part of the job remit.

Main Responsibilities

• To support clients to use energy efficiently, affordably and safely
• To provide Energy efficiency advice to every client
• To provide Carbon monoxide (CO) safety advice in one to one and group sessions
• Assist Clients to switch suppliers or tariffs (when this becomes a viable option again)
• Support vulnerable clients to join the relevant Priority Service Registers
• Make referrals to Warm Home Discount
• Assist clients with utility billing issues
• Facilitate Utility Debt write off
• Make Referrals to Home Energy Scotland via their online portal
• Provide clients with the support to access emergency funds
• To maximise Clients income in all cases of referral/intervention
• Provide monthly case studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of the project.

General Responsibilities
• To adhere to guidelines for client engagement, recording and reporting in line with National Standards and any internal standards as set by Management
• To work within the framework of the General Data Protection Regulations
• To recognise the limitations of the role and signpost/refer accordingly where required.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
• To be considerate of and respectful to colleagues and client’s needs and limitations and act in a supportive manner
• Ensure that professional attitudes and behaviours are demonstrated at all times
• To work co-operatively with other agencies and community groups within East Ayrshire (and wider where necessity dictates) to improve the provision, standard and accessibility of advice.

• To abide by the health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety and that of others
• Keep updated with, work within and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of systems, policies and procedures
• To contribute to the identification of own training and development needs
• To attend and actively participate in staff/team meetings as required
• To check, read and where necessary respond to email on a daily basis ensuring that all deadlines are met
• To undertake any other duties and responsibilities which may reasonably be determined by the Manager/Operations Manager
