Working Hours: Full Time - 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday
My client is a very successful engineering company based in Hurlford. They are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant.
Job Purpose:
The role will work closely with the Group Financial Accountant and other members of the finance team in pursuit of high standards of financial performance. The role will strive to provide well-presented accurate financial information to support and challenge Senior Leadership in order to maximise returns for the business.
The post holder will also be a key player in the preparation of in depth analysis and understanding of gross margins and overhead spend.
The role will be involved in the implementation of financial improvements which will contribute to achieving profit and cash flow targets of the company.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Assist the Group Financial Accountant in the preparation of group management accounts including posting journals and preparing all bank reconciliations
• Responsible for presenting gross margin data to the commercial team and support the in depth analysis and commentary of operational work carried out
• Responsible for group overhead reporting, lead monthly review meeting with budget holders and support them prepare their annual budgets
• Responsible for signing off all company payments on a weekly/monthly basis in conjunction with the Group Financial Accountant
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts and key profit and loss accounts are reconciled monthly, mitigating any financial risks to the business by rectifying any anomalies founds
• Prepare monthly intercompany matrix and resolve any discrepancies
• Identifying any process improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness of the team
• Support the Group Financial Accountant during the annual audit and assist with preparation of annual statutory accounts
Qualifications & Skills Required
• Part Qualified Accountant in either ACCA/CIMA/ACA
• 3-5 years PQ
• Proven experience as a Management Accountant or a similar position.
• Solid understanding of financial management and accounting.
• Experience in Rail Industry or related industry would be desirable.
• Excellent IT skills
• Proficient user of Microsoft packages; Word, Excel
• Experience of using accounting software
• Ability to manage changing priorities and workload
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Strong ability to communicate well at all levels
• Experience of all core operational and accounting business partnering essential
• Working knowledge of accounting rules and HMRC rules essential
