Financial Accountant

Based: Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire

Salary: £45 - 50K per annum

Contract term: Permanent

Working Hours: Full Time - 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday

My client who is based in East Ayrshire is looking for a Financial Accountant.

The purpose of the role will be to provide accurate financial reporting, forecast and budget information for all companies within the group. This will include consolidation of accounts, overhead reporting, group cash flow reporting, preparing statutory accounts, VAT submissions, audit management.

This is a key role in this business, as this is a technical area with lots of tax/accounting risks which will become more exposed as the company grows.

This accounting role will come with commercial exposure and extensive interaction with the Senior Leadership team through proactive Business Partnering, and third party providers.

Key Areas of Responsibility
· Accountable for producing monthly group management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
· Preparation of rolling forecasts on a quarterly basis
· Preparation of annual statutory accounts and financial statements
· Preparation of budgets and ongoing monitoring of performance compared to budget including commentary.
· Business Partner with the Heads of department, ensuring they have proactive data analysis and commentary for business decision making.
· Presentation of accounts to the Head of Finance for approval
· Ensure a robust control environment through design, implementation and monitoring of controls.
· Manage the finance audit process, liaising directly with the 3rdparty auditors
· Maintain the relationship with the 3rd party payroll provider, ensuring processes are regularly reviewed
· Identifying any process improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness of the team
· Lead and be part of finance team projects to implement new systems and processes
· Coach and mentor the Assistant Management Accountant and Payroll & Admin assistant ensuring regular 121’s and development plans are in place to support their development

Qualifications & Skills Required

· Qualified accountant in either ACCA/CIMA/ACA
· 3-5 years PQ
· Proven experience as a financial accountant or similar
· Experience in the rail industry would be an advantage.
· Excellent IT skills

Salary range is £45,000 to £50,000 per annum.
